Richard M. Garrity--64, A resident of Medford for the past 25 years, formerly of Somerville, passed away suddenly on January 20, 2014. Richard was the beloved son of the late Mary E. (Kearns) and Vincent P. Garrity and the loving brother of Patricia A. and Donald J. Garrity both of Somerville, Msgr. Paul V. Garrity of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Norwood, David J. Garrity and his wife Karen of Medford. He was the dear uncle of Jonathan, Justine, and Jason Garrity. The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Saturday morning, January 25, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Clement Church in Somerville at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, January 24, from 3-7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Arlington. Richard was a graduate of St. Clement High School, Boston State College, and Lesley University. Prior to his retirement, he was an Art and Ceramics Teacher at Somerville High School.
