William Ignatius Connelly (Billy, Hackett) son of the late Louise M (Schluer) Connelly and the late William I Connelly passed away suddenly on July 24,2023.

Billy was born on May 23, 1955. He was the brother of Margaret (Marge) Connelly of Pocasset Ma, Kathleen Rainey and Paul Rainey Of West Falmouth and Medfield Ma, and his late sister Maureen T Connelly of Somerville. He was the loving uncle of Alison Rainey Doak, husband Bob, and children Ben, Julia, and Miles of Milton MA. Billy was Godfather and uncle to Elizabeth Rainey Flanders, husband Dana, and children Penny and Deacon of Gilford NH.

Raised in Somerville, Billy graduated from St Mary's HS where he was a standout athlete in Basketball, Football, and Baseball. He attended Boston State College and for many years worked for Little Brown Publishing Company.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Securitas Company at their Harvard Operation. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by 18 close first cousins, many lifelong friends and roommate Bobby Pasco.

Billy was kind and humble. He was a champion of causes, organizing teams to raise money for many charities including The Jimmy Fund and March of Dimes.

He was an avid reader, and collector of comic books, old movie memorabilia, and all things Errol Flynn. Bill was a lifelong fan of all Boston sports teams. A great fan of Doug Flutie, he traveled to Miami where (from the end zone) he witnessed the famous, miracle Hail Mary Touchdown.
