Obituary

Veronique Alise Bain, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. She was 77 years old.

Veronique, affectionately known as "Alice" was born on January 25, 1948 in Les Cayes, Haiti, to her late parents Nicholas Dimanche and Marie Julanie Gregoire. She grew up in the small town of Chantal alongside her siblings and received her early education there. In Haiti, she met and later married the love of her life, Joseph F. Bain. In 1970, she migrated to the United States to reunite to her husband, where they built a family and life together.

A devoted mother, Veronique raised five children: Jude, Yrvens, Garry, Josephine, and her adoptive son Louis (Jeannot) Gregoire. She was also blessed with many grandchildren: Maalik, Jude, Jonathan, Marcus, Tia, Jordan and great grandchildren: Juleano and Alijah, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

Veronique worked tirelessly throughout her life. For over 23 years, she was employed at the Fernald State School in Waltham, dedicating herself to lovingly caring for the mentally challenged. After retiring, she pursued her entrepreneurial spirit and operated her own hair salons, Lewis Salon and Glamourama Hair Salon in Cambridge, where she formed close relationships with both her clients and the greater community. She was known not only for her determination and strong work ethic, but also for her love of cooking, which she shared generously with family, friends, and all who gathered around her table.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph F. Bain, in 2011, as well as her two brothers, Yves Gregoire (1989) and Pierre Dimanche (2008).

Veronique's legacy is one of love, sacrifice, and resilience. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ and love of her Catholic faith, her dedication to her family, her warm hospitality and charity, and her strength of spirit. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and the countless lives she touched.
