Thomas M. Polifka - Of Somerville, MA passed on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Tom was 67 years old and a late U.S. Navy Veteran who had a deep respect for his fellow veterans.
He was born to the late Allen Polifka and Paulie (Leblanc) Polifka and had a twin brother who died at birth. Tom worked most of his career as a manager for Harvard University's dining services, as well as several other establishments in the food industry.
Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Gloria M. (Matteo) Polifka. Tom is survived by his partner Louise Abisso and her daughters Kim, Michelle and son Thomas and their children.
Tom is also survived by three stepdaughters, Donna M. Albanese (Donald), Deborah A. Keen (Kevin), and Darlene Mahoney and grandchildren Richard, Michael, Christopher, Rachel, Marcus, Adam, Maddison and Dee from his marriage to Gloria Polifka. Additionally, Tom is survived by many of his cousins from his father's side including Ken Martin and his wife Diane of Belmont, ME, Stephen Martin and his wife Marla of Gloucester, MA and John Martin of Norwich, MA as well as many of his LeBlanc cousins from his mother's side of the family.
Tom had an extraordinary personality, a great sense of humor, and a deep passion for music as demonstrated in his guitar playing ability and music writing skills. He was so very well-liked by his numerous friends, which he held close to his heart. He had a very special connection with his lifelong friend of 55 years, Ralph DeParolisa, who had the privilege of enjoying Tom's special friendship and performing in several bands with Tom over the years.
Funeral services will be held for Thomas, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA on August 13th at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301
