Thomas Petersen of Weymouth, MA formerly of Medford passed
away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his
loving family, on Friday July 26, 2024 Tom was 78.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville.

Loving husband for 56 years to Elena (Ardolino) Petersen.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Waters) Petersen.

Father to Amy Nash and her husband Shawn of Braintree, Thomas, Jr of Greenville, NH and
Erica Petersen and her wife Dianna Byrnes of Brockton and Wells, ME.

He was a loving Grampy to Ryan and Olivia Nash and Adrian
and Amanda Petersen. Brother to Robert Petersen and his wife
Alice of Dartmouth and William and his wife Chris of Framingham.

After graduating from Dakota State University, Madison, South
Dakota he returned to Somerville and taught at Northeastern
Junior High School. He also was an Assistant football coach at
Matignon High School for many years. Before his retirement, Tom
was a Probation Officer at the Somerville District Court for 25 years.
Tom will be remembered for his gentle demeanor,strong ethics
and beliefs, and a great listener (as he was a man of very few words.)

Calling hours will be held at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home,
855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) Tuesday July 30th from 4-7PM.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday July 31st at 11:00 A.M. at the Doherty Funeral Home.

The burial will be private.
