Obituary

KENNEALLY, Thomas Gerard -- Of Revere, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024.  He was 71 years young.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late William F. and Helen T. (Murphy) Kenneally.  Father to Lori T. Litzenberg (Jeffrey) of Plaistow, NH, Caryn A. Anderson (Andrew) of Nottingham, NH, and William T. Kenneally (Erin) of Newton, MA, and cherished grandfather "Pops" of seven grandchildren, Joshua T. and Kristin M. Litzenberg, Emily R. and Julie L. Anderson, and William H., Edith H., and George H. Kenneally.

Dear brother of Joseph W. Kenneally and his wife Kathy of Waterville, ME, the late Judith A. Colman and her husband Joseph of Tewksbury, and the late William Kenneally.  Tom is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Tom was born on January 16, 1952, in Cambridge, MA.  He attended Somerville public schools and graduated from Somerville High School in 1969.  He had a long career working at Polaroid in Cambridge and Waltham and served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves.  He was stationed at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station and served on the USS Newman K Perry.

Tom was a family man who loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.  Whenever someone asked him about his family, he would smile ear to ear and boast with pride. Tom loved dogs, football, talking about politics, and living by the ocean.  He was a proud veteran.

Calling hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Somerville, MA on Tuesday, January 9th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

A Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 10th in the Immaculate Conception Church 133 Beach St., Revere, MA at 10:00AM. Please meet directly at church.

Services will conclude with a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave Bourne, MA promptly at 1:45 PM on Wednesday, January 10th. Please meet at the gate.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Tom had a big heart and donated regularly to St. Jude Research Hospital and Shriners Hospital .  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Tom's name to those organizations.

Please also consider saving a life of someone with a similar illness as Tom by donating blood at the Mass General Blood Donor Center , one of the largest full-service blood transfusion and donation services in the country.
