Obituary

Stephen B. Alcott--67, A resident of Medford and Somerville died after a long illness on January 16, 2012. Steve was the beloved husband of Mary (Byrne) Alcott with whom he shared nearly 45 years of marriage and the devoted father of S. Roger Alcott and his wife Suzanne of Natick, Jennifer Alcott and her husband Erick Crowell of Medford, Rory K. Alcott and her husband Jeffrey Quinn of Melrose. Stephen was also the dear brother of Daniel Alcott of Millers MD and the late David L. Alcott of San Antonio TX. He was the cherished grandfather of Katelyn, Olivia and Grace Alcott, Gabriel and Ruby Crowell, Liam and Seamus Quinn. Stephen was the son of Dorothy Alcott of Starke, FL and the late E. George Alcott and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will gather, honor and remember Steve's life at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home in Somerville at the calling hours on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4-6 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 21 at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Catherine of Genoa Church Somerville for a Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Stephen Alcott was a wonderful musician who loved to play for his family, friends, and church People of the Promise. Stephen Alcott was a graduate of Tufts University, School of Engineering as well as the New England School of Law. He was a lifetime member of American Water Works Assoc., New England Water Works Association, and a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association since 1975. Mr. Alcott Owned and operated Alcott Associates, a utility rates and valuation consulting company. He was an avid supporter of multiple wildlife organizations, Only a Child Organization, Soujourner's House, Shriner's Hospital Boston, and Muscular Distrophy Association.
