Sotirios "Andy" Kargatzis passed away on June 4, 2026, at Mount Auburn Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was a lifelong resident of Somerville, Massachusetts, and was well known in the community for his warmth, hard work, and deep family roots. For many years, he worked at his family's well-known business, the Ocean Reef Restaurant in West Somerville, where he became a familiar and friendly presence to many. He later became the owner of a successful landscaping company, continuing his strong work ethic until his retirement.

Andy was the beloved son of the late Kostas and Nikki Kargatzis, who were born in Crete and Piraeus, Greece, and later immigrated to Somerville, where they built their family and life.

He is survived by his sister, Stephanie Moreira, and her husband, Andreas, of Somerville,  Massachusetts; Cyndie Femino and her husband, Charles, of Melrose, Massachusetts; his  nephews, Joseph and his wife Ashley, Nicholas and his wife Kara, and Stavro and his  partner Will Moreira, and Charles and Christopher Femino; and his great-nephew, Joseph  Moreira, and great-nieces, Nikki and Madison Moreira. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, most of whom are lifelong residents of Somerville and Greece.

Andy will be remembered for his devotion to family, his connection to the Somerville community, and the kindness and dedication he brought to every stage of his life.

Funeral arrangements will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, visiting hours will be 9:00AM – 11:00AM at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 29 Central Street, Somerville, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00AM

Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery burial in Everett.
