Shirley Goodwin Donovan, born in Millinocket, Maine, was a devoted daughter to Ronald Goodwin and Cora Bouchard Goodwin. She graduated from Stearns High School in the class of 1954 and pursued a career in nursing, graduating from the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing. Shirley dedicated 41 years of her life working as a registered nurse at Somerville Hospital and the East Somerville Clinic.

Shirley cherished her summer vacations at Lake Ambejejus in Millinocket, which she fondly called 'Home,' spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Oliverio and Patricia Lapolla, and her beloved grandchildren Ronald Abbott, Melissa Abbott, Amanda Oliverio, Michelle Oliverio, Mikaela Oliverio, Alexis Lapolla, Ryan Lapolla, and great-granddaughter Brea Robinson. She also leaves behind her sister Sarah Goodwin, brother-in-law Ross Thompson, and nephews John Brunette, Ronald Brunette, and Adam Thompson, along with their families and nieces Mary Anne Rull, Eileen O'Connell, Peggy Crosby, Diane Doherty and their families whom she loved. A special cousin Sharon Hallett, and many dear friends will also remember her fondly.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, her sister Mary Thompson, her nephew Andrew Thompson, and her step-mother Nina Mott Blakely Goodwin.

Visiting hours will be held for Shirley, Monday June 23, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00. A Funeral Home Service will be, Tuesday June 24, 2025, at 11:00am, in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder house Sq.) Somerville. Relatives and friends are invited to all services.

Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.
