Sandra M.
Guelpa
Nov 13, 1939 — Jun 16, 2024
Guelpa, Sandra M. (Greeke) - Of Somerville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was 84 years young.
Born and raised in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Dell E. and Martha (Koski) Greeke. Sandra was a proud graduate of St. Ann's High School Class of 1957. Having grown up on the beach in Gloucester, she carried her love for the ocean throughout her life and instilled it in her children and grandchildren. She was a warm and easy-going person, who would always greet you with the biggest smile. She instantly made anyone who met her feel like family and was "Nana" to all.
Sandra loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her love and dedication were shown to her family in many ways whether it be vacationing in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, a fun game of UNO, attending the theater with her family, or cheering on her grandson at hockey. She was proud of and loved her family. On her down time, you could either find her in her garden or sitting on her porch enjoying her glass of red wine waving hello to all the neighbors. She will be missed by all whom she knew and loved.
Sandra was the beloved wife of 49 years to the late Joseph F. Guelpa who died in 2011. Devoted mother of Paula Thistle of Everett, Christine Guelpa of Somerville, and Lisa Guelpa of Revere. Cherished and loving grandmother of Emily Elizabeth Thistle and her fiancé Brad Varnum, Victoria Rose Thistle, Zachary Joseph Guelpa and many fur grandchildren. Dear sister of Peter Greeke and his wife Billie Anne, Paul Greeke and his wife Kathy, Sheila Greeke-Danjou and her husband Adelard, Daniel Greeke and his wife Joan, the late Donald Greeke and his surviving wife Ann, and the late Linda Baptiste-Greeke. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
