Rose Marie Scanlan – Of Somerville, passed away on May 17, 2024, she was 95.

Loving daughter of the late Margaret (Fleming) and Leo V. Scanlan, she was born in Arlington and raised in Somerville..

Dear sister of Claire Maestri of Burlington and her late husband Robert, the late Jean Morrison and her husband Ernest, the late Peggy Stronach and her husband Clifford, and the late Eileen McCarthy and her husband Gerald.

Also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rose was a retired longtime employee of New England Telephone.  She enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending time with her large group of friends and her family.  Rose and her four sisters loved making annual weekend trips to Cape Cod and planning family Christmas parties every year.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Saturday morning, May 25th from 8:30AM - 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The ALS Association of Massachusetts.
