Rodger
Schregardus
Jul 22, 1971 — Nov 2, 2022
Rodger Done Schregardus of Somerville, passed away November 2, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.
Rodger was born in Tucson Arizona, son of Kathryn Done Schregardus (Levi) and adoptive Father Thomas Paul Schregardus. His family moved to Massachusetts in his early childhood, residing for a time in Medford, before finally settling in their home, of 42 years, near Teele Square in Somerville.
He grew up a true "Villen", playing on the streets, hanging with friends on the corners, at Trum or Dilboy fields, but most likely down near the tracks". Often engaging in one of their favorite activities, leaping between garage roofs or any of the other things city kids do.
He was not the most diligent student but did earn his Adult Diploma in June 1991. He had already started his construction career several years before, working for a number of small contractors before starting his long stint with Miller Construction. He excelled at the tough tasks, which earned Rodger the "go to roofer" title. This skill was often a great help to his family as he often volunteered to tackle projects at his Somerville family home. Later in life, he changed careers to warehousing, working for a number of firms.
Rodger was a diehard Bruins fan, faithfully following the team through their ups and downs, with the ultimate thrill of seeing his team hoist the cup in 2011. He was thrilled when his son Easton, earned spots on Boston Stars and Central Mass Outlaw traveling teams. He was a fixture at the practices and games. He showed this same commitment in supporting his sons many other sports. Rodger often called his daughter, Jordan, "the light of his life". He was always so very supportive of her and showed immense pride in all that she has accomplished these last few years.
Rodger will be remembered as a hard worker, enthusiastic hockey fan, doting Father to his 2 children, his unique sense of humor and the silly little dance of his. He is survived by his children, Jordan Rain and Easton Cameron Hanson of Milford, his partner Colleen Hanson of Milford, his parents Thomas and Kathryn Schregardus of Tyngsboro, his sister Rhonda Coletti of Tyngsboro, his nephews Jake Scott Coletti of Tyngsboro and Adam Thomas Coletti of Ipswich. As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Rodger's family is immensely grateful to Merrimack Valley Hospice and their High Pointe House, for the compassionate and loving care he received in his last days. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to High Pointe House would be appreciated.
