Mr. Richard F. Schlecht passed away peacefully at the Beth-Israel Hospital in Boston on June 2, 2022, he was 79. Born and raised in Somerville, he was a lifelong resident. Richard was the cherished son of the late Lillian (Hadley) Schlecht. He was a courier for the Pitney-Bowes Company and retired after many years of service. A quite man, Richard enjoyed time spent with his family and could often be found taking long walks around the city.
Richard is survived by his two sisters, Nancy Powers and her husband Robert, Sr. of Clinton and Barbara DeMattia and her late husband Frank of Methuen. He was the dear uncle of Robert Powers Jr., Michael Powers, Michelle Powers Rao, Kristyn O'Connor, Stephen Powers, Derek Powers, Frank DeMattia, Jr., the late Christine DeMattia, Jason DeMattia, Jennifer Conidi and Alicia Tusa and a great-uncle to many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Tuesday morning, June 7th at 10AM followed by a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
