th
birthday
. Born March 9,
1923
in Boston he was the son of Marie (Paquette) and Francis Flannery. He was the beloved husband of the late Doreen (Dionne) Flannery and a devoted
father of 9 children. Kathleen Canney and her husband Edward, the late Rita Gotham and her surviving husband Edward, Beatrice Wood and her husband Ron, the late Claire McAskill and her late ex-husband Paul, Paul Flannery and his wife Valerie, Doris Walsh and her late husband Joseph, Ralph Flannery, Irene Flannery and her husband Jeffrey Blanz, Dan Flannery and his wife Maureen. He also leaves his only brother Ovide Flannery, 11 loving grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
A member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Flannery enlisted in the Army Air Corps in World War II as a pilot in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Returning home, he worked as a draftsman and later became a machinist by trade. In earlier years he was a member of the Masons Lodge and served on the Civil Air Patrol for many years.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Wednesday morning, March 9
th
from 9:30AM-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, Cambridge at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Face Masks required at all services.
Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Disabled American Vets at
