Patricia L.
Palmacci
Oct 15, 1940 — Jun 21, 2024
Patricia Palmacci, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and long-time Somerville, MA resident, died peacefully at home of natural causes on June 21, 2024.
Born in Cambridge, MA, she was the devoted wife of the late Ernesto E. Palmacci for nearly 67 years and was the daughter of the late Catherine E. Bears (Pettee) and Warren A. Bears. She was the sister of the late Barbara Hilgert (Bears), half-siblings Dennis Whall, Dorothea Chabak, Susan Clark, Warren Bears, Jr., Jack Bears, Ada Bears and both the late Russell Bears, and Linda Bears. Pat is survived by her children Ernesto Palmacci, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Groton, MA, Steven Palmacci and his wife Eugenia of Melrose, MA, Lisa Palmacci of Woburn, MA and John Palmacciof Ogunquit, ME. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Nicholas, Lauren, Lia, Don, Francesca, Steven Jr, and Jack as well as her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jake, Ava, Robert Williams, Jr. She will also be missed by her life-long friend, Virginia Pizzelli of Franklin, MA and was grateful to have had the love and friendship of all, especially that of Dorothea, Dennis and his wife Ronnie, and Bill and June Moynihan. Pat was funny, creative, insightful, and spiritual. She was a marvelous cook, master Scrabble player, and loving and devoted to her entire family. In addition, she was also a talented writer, expert at crochet, and created many beautiful needlepoint pieces, which will be cherished forever. Always the go-to person for anyone that needed advice or just her loving ear to listen, she never hesitated to make time for friends and family.
Despite the challenges presented by losing her mother at 10 years of age and the difficulties that soon followed, Pat persevered. It was that perseverance and strength that led to her being chosen as Valedictorian at the Putnam School in Cambridge, becoming a licensed social worker, and earning a B.A. in Creative Writing from Lesley College in 1998 where she was also invited to be Valedictorian. Needless to say, it also came in handy raising four children, who meant the world toher. Her career included time at Project Hello, Somerville Mental Health, and Tufts University. Pat was also a devout Catholic supporting her local parish, St. Clement, and was a member of the Grey Nuns in Lexington, MA and involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal at the Cenacle Retreat House in Brighton, MA. But more than anything, it was her marriage to her beloved Ernie that was the bedrock of her life, and she missed him terribly after his passing in January. It bringsgreat solace to all knowing they are now reunited for eternity.
