Obituary

Frongillo, Michael – Of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was 86 years old.

Born in Somerville, Michael was the beloved son of the late Michael N. and Josephine (Innaconne) Frongillo.

Michael believed in living a healthy and active lifestyle. He loved working out and took great pride in staying in excellent shape. He was a longtime member of the Somerville YMCA and rarely missed an opportunity to work out.

He was a long-time instructor of Electron Microscopy at MIT. He worked with many students from across the world.

When he wasn't at the gym, Michael could often be found working in his yard, tending to his plants and vegetable garden. This was one of his greatest passions, and he found genuine peace in caring for his yard. Michael also appreciated the quieter moments in life. After a busy day, he enjoyed relaxing in front of the television, whether he was watching a favorite sitcom, the latest movie or discovering a new series on Netflix.

Michael was a Knights of Columbus member and also enjoyed spending time on outings with the Retired Mens’ Club of Arlington.

Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Marie L. (Romano) Frongillo who passed away in February of 2025. Devoted father of Mark Frongillo and his wife Siobhan of Medford and Kristine Williams and her husband John of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Michael and Megan Frongillo, Mikayla and Makenzie Williams. Dear brother of the late Rosemary Brown and her late husband James Brown. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, July 21 in St. Raphael Parish 512 High St., Medford from 9:30AM to 11:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass at 11:00AM.
