Of Lynn, formerly of Somerville, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, June 5, 2026. He was 58 years old.

Born in Boston and raised in Somerville, Michael was the beloved son of Sandra (Smith) Herron and the late Michael L. Chiapperini.

Michael was proud of his Somerville roots and carried that pride with him throughout his life. He was known for his warm personality, quick smile, and ability to make anyone feel welcome. To Michael, strangers were simply friends he had not met yet.

Above all, Michael was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his sons deeply and took great pride in their accomplishments, but his favorite title was "Papa." His grandchildren brought him endless joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Michael was an avid football fan who rarely missed a game and a lifelong lover of rock and roll music. He enjoyed sharing both with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Beloved father of Chris Johnson, Michael Chiapperini and his wife Alicia, Anthony Chiapperini, and Joseph Chiapperini. Devoted grandfather of Jayden Chiapperini, Ariella Chiapperini, Enzo Chiapperini, and Landon Johnson. Loving brother of Mary Lou Chiapperini, Lisa Chiapperini-Tauro, and Richard Chiapperini. Cherished dad to his beloved dog, Chop. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Michael's kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 12th at St. Catherine Church 185 Summer St., Somerville at 10:00AM. Please meet directly at church.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

Interment will be private
