Obituary

Tonucci, Mary J. (Brancato)—Of Medford, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Care Dimensions in Lincoln. She was 98 years young.

Born in Chelsea to the late Andrew and Angela (Raiti) Brancato. Mary had a zest for life and always made sure to enjoy it to the fullest. She loved to dance with her beloved late husband (Tuffy). She would listen to Pasty Cline, Jerry Vale, and other big band music, whether it was to dance to or just to have on in the background while she at home doing things around the house. Mary loved to travel. She traveled throughout the States, and  the Caribbean, to France and Italy, including her native land, Sicily. She loved to tell  stories of her youth, her family, and her travels. Mary especially enjoyed going to the casinos, whether it was to Mohegan, Foxwoods, Vegas, or Atlantic City, you could always find her playing cards or the slots and telling everyone the tricks of the trade to winning. Mary's favorite place to go was her second home in York, Maine. She spent every summer there, since 1968! Mary loved to sing, and with her "Maine" friends would go singing at Valerie's Piano Bar in Ogunquit every Friday night, when the husbands came up from home. She loved the beach and relaxing on the deck, reading, or just listening to music, and people watching. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As she got older, if it was Wednesday, it was dinner with her children (Robert, Denise, and Darlene). Anyone who knew her, or her children knew Wednesday night was "dinner night."  She was an avid reader of books, the newspaper, or the AARP magazine, keeping up to date all the current events. She enjoyed doing word search, whether on paper or on-line. She was known as the "Energizer Bunny" she would take a lickin and keep on tickin! Mary made an impact on all who knew her, and it was an honor to be a part of her life. She never ceased to amaze and will be missed by all.

Beloved wife of 45 years to the late Raoul Tonucci. She was the devoted mother of Robert Tonucci and his wife Barbara of Westford, Denise DeVincent-Tonucci of Saugus, and Darlene Tonucci of Medford. The loving grandmother of Dahlia Elyce, Chris, Janine, Bridget and her two fur grandchildren Persephane and the late Chloe and 10 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of the late Minnie, Josie, Janice, Connie, Nettie, Angie, Gracie and Andy. She is also lovingly survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
