Mary E.
Keane
Dec 27, 1935 — Jan 20, 2024
Mary Elizabeth (Bennett) Keane was the first child born to William D. Bennett and Elizabeth (Gibson) Bennett in Medford, Massachusetts on December 27, 1935. She was the older sister to Barbara and Bill Bennett. She grew up with an extended family of proud Scottish immigrants. Her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins all lived near each other in Medford and Somerville, MA. Growing up, she considered herself blessed to spend many summers on Lake Winnipesaukee and Weirs Beach in Laconia, NH. Understanding the value of hard work, Mary spent her teen years working at the Ball Square Theatre where she met Paul Keane. She was swept off her feet by the young man and the two were married on October 20, 1957. The newlyweds settled in Somerville and raised a family of four. Mary continued to work at John Hancock Insurance Co., where she was able to make lifelong friends and enjoy vacations and excursions with co-workers and family. She retired from full-time work in 1996. She and Paul relocated to their residence in Ossipee, New Hampshire and she lived there until late 2020. For the last three years she lived with her daughter and grandchildren in Sandown, NH until her death on January 20, 2024.
She was predeceased by her father in 1965, her mother in 2007, her sister in 2008 and her husband, Capt. Paul C. Keane, Somerville Fire Department on August 2, 2001. She is survived by her brother Bill of Lynnfield, MA and her children: Kevin Keane and his wife Karen, Woburn MA, Lisa Tarlin and husband Greg, Sandown, NH, William Keane, Bentonville, AR, Michael Keane and his wife Marie, Leominster, MA and her grandchildren: Kevin Keane, Jr. and wife Sophia, Kristopher Keane and wife Shauna, Korey Keane and wife Gabby, Benjamin Keane, Bailey Keane, Jillian Tarlin, Chloe Tarlin, Sam Tarlin and fiancé, Abby Johnston.
