Margaret L. McDonald, a beloved resident of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 95. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Hector and Margaret (Brown) McEachern.

Margaret was a woman of vibrant spirit and boundless curiosity, always eager to explore the world around her with her family. Her love of travel took her to many places, where she embraced new experiences and cultures at every opportunity. Whether near or far, Margaret made the most of every journey.

In addition to her wanderlust, she possessed a keen eye for beauty and a passion for shopping. Margaret found joy in the thrill of the hunt, whether seeking the perfect gift for a loved one or treating herself to something special.

Known for her culinary talents, Margaret was particularly famous for her delicious chicken soup, a comforting staple that brought family and friends together. Her warm and nurturing nature extended to her love of gardening, where she nurtured both plants and relationships with equal care.

Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and kindness that will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her family and many friends who will cherish her memory and the many joyful moments they shared.

Beloved wife of the late Edward McDonald and John E. Twohig. Devoted mother of Margaret Twohig and her partner Joseph Bolduc of Somerville and the late John E. Twohig and Kathleen O'Neill. Cherished grandmother of Niki Twohig and Michael Twohig and his wife Kashmir. Loving great-grandmother of Maisie, Ruben, Rowan and Fox. Dear sister of the late John McEachern and his wife Anne. She is also lovingly survived by many loving nieces, nephews, stepchildren; Carol, Michael, Donna, Sheila, Sharon, Edward, Jr., Laurie, Keith and the late Dennis, Janet, Michelle and Terry and many step grandchildren.

A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House SQ.) Saturday, November 9th at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine Church 179 Summer St., Somerville at 10:00AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

In lieu of flower's contributions may be made in Margaret's name to the Hospice / Palliative Care unit at Bear Hill Rehab, 11 North St., Stoneham, MA 02180.
