Obituary

Madeline L. McCrorey - Of Medford, on September 18 at age 89, died peacefully at home surrounded by family. Beloved wife of John F. McCrorey. Loving mother of Loretta Malcolm of Reading; Madeline Wallis and her husband David of North Reading; Jack McCrorey and his wife Mary of Northborough; and Tom McCrorey and his wife Cathy of Hopkinton.

Cherished Nana of Andrew and his wife Chelsea, Patrick and his wife Caitlin, Lindsey and her husband Aaron, Kaitlin and her husband Michael, Elizabeth and her fiancé Calvin, Matthew, Sarah and her fiancé Kevin, and Ryan. Treasured great-grandmother of Skylar, Summer, Wesley, Ella, Aiden and Keira.

Born on New Year's Day, the daughter of James and Madeline Callahan. She was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Jeremiah E Burke High School and Boston Teacher's College. She loved teaching and taught at St. Catherine's in Somerville for over 20 years.

Family was everything to Madeline. She was married to her husband John for 67 years and raised her four children on St. Clements Road in Medford. Madeline cherished family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She started many family traditions, including summer vacations to Hampton Beach and Cape Cod, winter trips to East Hill Farm, and holiday traditions where the whole family would gather.

She loved her sister, Mary Moore, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and spending time with her nieces and nephews, especially celebrating holidays together.

She was an avid reader, Jeopardy aficionado, crocheter extraordinaire, and played a mean game of Skat. She treasured spending time with lifelong friends and new friends she made along the way. If you became a friend of Madeline's, you were her friend for life. She would always say how lucky she was to have such an amazing family and cherished friends. She would modestly say, "I must have done something right."
