GALVIN, Lt. Joseph J., Jr., 76, a lifelong resident of Somerville, served on the Somerville Fire Department (mainly Engine 7) for 41 years (1969-2010). He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Joe's biggest joy in life was helping people. He passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2022. Joey was the beloved husband of Jeanie (Paterson) Galvin, loving father of April Nelson Galvin and Wendy Ellen Harris, dear brother of former U.S. Navy Captain James J. Galvin and his wife Barbara, the late Somerville Firefighter Robert A. Galvin, and the late Eileen Galvin Ernst. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loyal friends that are like family.
