Louis Joseph Resteghini, 88, of Somerville passed away on March 13th after a short illness. He received a BA in Economics from Tufts University where he was class president. He later graduated from Boston University with a MA in Far East Politics and Government.
Lou was born in Somerville in 1934 to Angelina and Louis John Resteghini. As a child, he was exceptionally bright and gregarious. Lou was a life-long intellectual who read constantly about history, politics, and science. His quick wit helped him become the unofficial "mayor" of any group. Always recognized for having a big heart, he spent much of his professional career as a social worker at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
Lou is survived by his sister Anne Marie Noone and was the brother of the late John Joseph Resteghini Sr. He is also survived by his daughter Jean Blundon and her husband William, his niece Susan Laperchia and her husband Richard, his nephew Marty Noone and his wife Tina, his nephew John Resteghini and his wife Christine, his niece Joan Resteghini, his niece Mary Havican and her husband Michael, and his niece Linda Lacolla and her husband Eric.
Visiting Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Friday, March 18th from 10AM - 12noon, followed by a prayer service at 12PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. He will be interred at 1PM at Woodlawn Cemetery at 302 Elm St. in Everett.
