Obituary

Larivee, Loretta R. Of Somerville, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Neville Nursing Center. She was 94.

Born in Boston and raised in Somerville. She was the beloved daughter of the late Gertrude Crine. Loretta was a woman of great faith, Loretta was active in the church, as a eucharistic minister, singing in the choir, and many other roles. When she wasn't in the church, you find her drawing, crafting, playing bingo, enjoying a movie or even just spending time with family and friends.

A lifelong resident of Somerville, graduating from Somerville High where she earned a varsity letter as a cheerleader. She loved her home on Broadway and made dear friends there. She was active in the community, as a poll worker, a member of the Dilboy Post Auxiliary, marching in parades, and an active member in elder community services.

Her voice was amazing and she shared it throughout her life, including as a member of the  Somerville Moonlighters (see her photo https://thesomervillenewsweekly.blog/2016/05/15/somervilles-swinging-singing-seniors-the-somerville-moonlighters/ )

She had a long career in Customer Support at Sears, Roebuck in their main Boston Office outside of Kenmore Square.

She travelled with her mother and aunts and cousins, and was very physically active. She enjoyed ice skating and skiing and later bowling. In her eighties, she even enjoyed bicycle riding with her cousin on the Minuteman Trail.

She loved the Red Sox and finally made it to Fenway for her 85th birthday.

A lifelong lover of animals, she doted on her parakeets and loved to hear birds singing throughout her life.

She was a caring and good friend to many and to the Somerville community
