Leonard S. Mortell, of the Chelsea Soldier's Home and formerly of Malden, passed away on January 28, 2023, he was 84. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Francis X. Mortell and Eileen V. (Dowdell) Mortell.
A Barber by trade for nearly 50 years in Braintree. He began his career working for his late Uncle, Larry Mortell, at the Plaza Barbershop. Lenny continued his career with many of his co-workers from the Plaza Barbershop, at Nanci's Barbershop on Elm Street where they would host "Monday Night Football" and give haircuts until late into the evening. Lenny loved his job and the many social connections he has in the Braintree/Quincy area. In his free time Lenny loved to play chess, cheer on the Patriots and practice his faith. Deeply religious, Lenny put prayer before all else.
Lenny was the devoted Father of Steven L. Mortell and his wife Joanne of Medford and Kathleen Mortell of Cohasset. He is the cherished Grandfather of Steven Mortell of Medford, Cory J. Mortell of Stoneham and Nicole C. Mortell of Boulder, Colorado, Dear Brother of Mary Kelly and her husband Jack of Woburn, Lawrence Mortell and his wife Sandy (deceased) of Brockton, Francesca LeBreton and her husband Wayne of Townsend, Helen Boyle and her husband Arthur of Pembroke, the late Martha Mortell of Somerville and the late Thomas Mortell and his late wife Pat of both Melrose and Plymouth and the former husband of the late Kathleen "Ellen" Mortell who passed away in 2021. Lenny leaves behind many adored Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends. Both near and far.
