Oct 5, 1924 — Jun 21, 2026
Lena V. (DiLello) DeLucia – Of Cambridge, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026. She was 101 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Lena was the beloved daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria L. (Cirello) DiLello.
Lena's greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and matriarch, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to share their successes with others. Her love was often expressed through her cooking, as she delighted in preparing delicious meals and gathering her family around the table to create lasting memories.
An avid walker throughout her life, Lena could often be found making her way to Davis Square, where she enjoyed browsing the local shops and visiting familiar places. She was also a devoted participant at the Medford Senior Center, where she formed many lasting friendships and enjoyed the companionship of fellow members. Lena loved to travel, especially with her sisters, and treasured the many family outings they shared over the years. Among her favorite destinations were the cherished weekend trips to Salem Willows, where countless happy memories were made.
Later in life, as a resident of Sancta Maria Nursing Home, Lena continued to embrace life with the same warmth, enthusiasm, and joyful spirit that had always defined her. She eagerly participated in the home's daily activities and especially looked forward to events featuring music and entertainment. On many occasions, Lena would steal the spotlight by singing along to her favorite songs, delighting both residents and staff alike. Her vibrant personality earned her the affectionate nickname "Queen Lena," a title she proudly embraced. She also enjoyed gathering with friends for lively games of bingo, where her competitive spirit and infectious smile were always on full display. She also loved to attend the Somerville Senior Center.
Beloved wife of the late Antonio DeLucia. Devoted mother of Rosalie DeLucia of Medford, Thomas DeLucia and his wife Fran of Malden, Anthony DeLucia and his wife Cara of Mansfield, Loretta DeLucia and her husband Bob Crandall of South Carolina, and Robert DeLucia of Malden.
