Obituary

Kathi M. White of Medford passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Alan White and a loving mother to Allyson White of Newton, Christopher White and Jill Kronberg of Cambridge, and Jeff White of Woburn. Kathleen was a dear sister to Patricia Lenehan and her husband Bret, and a cherished grandmother to Oliver Kronberg-White. She was also a beloved aunt to Brittany Gantz, Maria, and Daniel White.

Kathi was a strong individual of high moral character. She was giving, humble and self-sacrificing. She was a very proud person who shunned the limelight and never sought attention for her accomplishments. Although Kathi majored in Spanish at Boston College, she was a stickler for the English language, both oral and written.

During her lifetime, Kathi enriched the lives of thousands of legally blind Massachusetts residents by providing instruction in daily living skills to enable blind persons to live independently. She was a mentor to anyone with whom she came in contact, particularly the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind staff she supervised.

Kathi enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including the beach, lighthouses, Adirondack chairs, porches and desserts, especially ice cream. She loved musical theater, particularly The King and I and My Fair Lady. She enjoyed dancing, having studied ballet and tap for many years. She loved to cruise the Mediterranean and spent long hours gazing at sunsets and sunrises.

Kathi was an exceptional hostess who loved decorating for Christmas. She never forgot anyone's birthday or anniversary. She could always be depended upon for transportation, a homemade decorated cake, a pepperoni pie or a baby blanket. She will be missed by all.

Calling hours will be held at St. Raphael Church, 514 High St. Medford, on Saturday morning, November 16, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, MA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kathi's memory to the Globe Santa at globesanta.org or Christmas in the City at christmasinthecity.org.
