Julie A. Curtin – Of Revere, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 61 years old.
Born in Saugus but raised in Lynn, Massachusetts, Julie was the cherished daughter of Paul DeSalvo and Janice Ryan.
Julie had a vibrant personality; she was hilarious, sassy, and incredibly smart and strong. She did everything in her power to make a better life for her daughters. Weekends were filled with day trips and family outings. Weekdays were spent working hard, establishing herself as one of the most capable and reliable colleagues. She worried immensely about her circle of connections. She hated the possibility of letting them down. Julie fought hard, and was incredibly resilient in the process, to be the best she could for others.
She was an avid television fan, especially when it came to Bravo. She never missed an episode of The Real Housewives and loved keeping up with every storyline, reunion, and all the drama. She was equally devoted to The Sopranos, a series she knew so well that she could recite many of its most iconic scenes from memory. Family and friends often marveled at how she could rewatch the same episodes over and over again.
When she wasn't relaxing in front of the television, Julie loved sharing a great meal. She frequented old-school spots, like Monty's pizza, Cafe Espadrille, The Lido Cafe, and D'Parma. Fast food and candy were Julie's guilty pleasures and were the source of a lot of laughs. She had niche cravings, always in her desk drawer, for payday bars, dubble bubble, spree, and hot tamales. She always knew what she wanted.
Above all else, Julie's greatest source of pride and happiness was her daughters. They were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She celebrated each of their accomplishments with unwavering love and encouragement. Julie was particularly overjoyed watching her daughters graduate college, a marker of a privilege she could not afford during her own youth. Watching them grow and succeed filled her heart with immeasurable pride. Her love for her daughters was unconditional, and they will forever carry with them the strength, warmth, devotion, and sass she gave so freely.
Beloved mother of Shannon Curtin and her partner Michael Gallo of East Boston, Emily Curtin and her partner Lucas Caceres of Revere. Devoted wife of Stephen Curtin. Dear sister of Paul DeSalvo and Jenny Torris. Loving aunt of Athena and Ty Torris, Ryan, Chris, and Ian Malone, and Brendan Curtin. Cherished fur mom to her beloved cat Alicia. Also survived by many loving, in-laws, extended family members and friends.
