Obituary

Judy Costa-Fontana, 74, of Plymouth, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Plymouth Rehabilitation and healthcare Center in Plymouth, MA after a lengthy illness.  Judy is survived by her loving daughter Meredith Cosseboom and her husband, James, of Plymouth, MA and Andrea Rodrigues.

Judy was a loving Nana to her grandchildren, Timothy and Sara, Jenna, Michael, Christopher, Brendan and Jillian.   She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Princess and her special grand dog, Charlie.

Judy was born on August 18, 1947  in Pleasanton, CA. Judy was the daughter of the late Albert V. and Thelma (Smith) Fontana.  She grew up in Somerville and Cambridge, MA. She attended Cambridge Public schools.  Judy went on to be employed by Polaroid Corporation for over twenty years as a color technician.

Judy's greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother.  She loved being called Nana.  Judy always had a story to tell or a photo to share of her grandchildren.  She loved each one of them very much.

Judy was a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor.  Judy was a great cook and was best  known for her homemade sauce, lasagna and meatballs.

Judy often looked forward to her visits with her grand dog Charlie, the Goldendoodle.  Recently, Judy enjoyed receiving hundreds of Doodle Christmas Cards from all over the world.

Sister of the late Alfred Constantino and his wife, Dorothy of Manchester CT; Phillip Fontana and his wife, Jane of Marstons Mills, MA.  She was the loving aunt of Diane Tyler and David Constantino both of CT; Dr. Elizabeth Fontana of New York and Alexander Fontana of California.  She also leaves behind many great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Judy's family would like to extend a special thank you to some of Judy's exceptional and compassionate caregivers from Plymouth Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center  in Plymouth, Cranberry Hospice, as well as her Doctors and Nurses at Brigham & Women's Hospital. Katie Seymoure- Social Worker, Susan OHalloran-nurse, Kathy- Nurse, Angela- Nurse, Kendall Ewell- CNA, Ann Reprecht-CNA, Shawni Enright- CNA, Danielle Colon- Activities, Marley Weston-CNA, Shannon Roy-CNA, Lois - Nurse, Elizabeth Oldham - Ambassador, Holly Somerville - Activities, Rebecca - Nurse at Cranberry Hospice, Mikayla - Nurse at Cranberry Hospice, Trenton Gregg - Social Worker at Cranberry Hospice, Both front desk receptionists - Kristen and Sue. I am forever grateful to each of you for your compassion, kindness and love. You will never be forgotten.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Somerville on Tuesday morning, June 28th from 8:30AM-9:30AM to be followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Union Sq. Somerville at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Burial will take place at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Plymouth.
