Ragucci, John J. – Of Somerville, passed away of a brief illness on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was 78 years old.
Born in Boston. He was the son of the late Joseph J. and Josephine (Giannino) Ragucci. John loved watching anything sports related, especially if it was a New England team. You could always hear him cheering on his favorite team while enjoying a miller light. He enjoyed playing darts, attending St. Anthony's feast or being a jokester. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. John was a HVAC mechanic for the Pipefitters Local 537, and a member for 50+ years. He was also a beloved member of St. Anthony's Club in the North End. John's love for his family and friends was selfless, and he will be missed by all.
John was the beloved husband of 39 years to Ann T. (Miscavage) Ragucci. He was the devoted father of Joseph Ragucci and his wife Sondra of Washington State, Christina "Chris" Grace and her husband William " Billy" of Barrington, NH, Kimberly "Kim" Volz and her husband Scott of Somerville, and Jean Ragucci of Florida. The loving grandfather of Tyler, Kaylie, Kyle, Sophia, Scott, Brinley, Shayne and Jayce, and the great grandfather of Kailah and Alexis who will be born this June. The dear brother of Carmine Ragucci of Maine and his late wife Maria, Theresa Sabbio and her husband Frank of Florida, Robert Ragucci and his wife Christine of Massachusetts, Angelina "Angie" Marco of Massachusetts and her late husband Johnny, and the late Geraldine Romano. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Saturday, May 27th at 8:30AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church 512 High St., Medford at 9:30AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held Friday May 26th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.
Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Dana Faber Cancer Institute .
