Flannery, John P. - Of Somerville,  Affectionally known as Pat, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the age of 89.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on October 27, 1935, Pat was the beloved son of the late John and Beatrice (Norris) Flannery. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering affection for those around him. A true friend to all, Pat was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer support whenever it was needed.

Pat had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. He often said they were "a man's best friend," and he formed lasting bonds with the many dogs he cared for throughout his life. His compassion for both people and animals left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In his quieter moments, Pat enjoyed simple pleasures, always surrounded by the warmth of family, friends, and, of course, his loyal canine companions. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to those he cared about.

Beloved husband of the late Mary J. Teahan. Devoted father of Patrick Flannery and his wife Margie of Az, and the late Kathleen Flannery-Connor. Cherished grandfather of Angelique and her husband Jacob, Dylan and Joshua. Loving great-grandfather of Rosannah and Matthew. Dear brother of Anna Bresnahan the late Bernie Flannery, Theresa Brown, Beatrice Couto, and Jerry Flannery. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

A funeral procession will be held on Friday, November 22 from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, at 10:30AM. Followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church 179 Summer St., Somerville at 11:30AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Services will conclude with burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
