John F. (Jack) Mack, Jr. died after a lengthy illness on May 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Born and raised in Somerville, MA he was the cherished son of the late Anne T. (Koen) Mack and the late John F. Mack. Loving father of Hudson Singer Mack and the late Casey Singer Mack. Brother of Alice M. Mack, Julie Mack Davenport and the late Joseph M. Mack. Brother-in-law of Bill Davenport. Former Husband of Carrie Singer. Special uncle of Daniel C. Mack, Liam J. Davenport, Laura Mack Rates, Lucas and Sam Mack, Bento and Levi Rates. Also survived by many loving cousins and friends who shared many laughter filled gatherings over the years.
Jack was a "double eagle", he attended Boston College High and as a Jesuit seminarian he attended Boston College receiving bachelor's and master's degrees. Jack was a manager in the business department of MTV Networks prior to teaching at Sing Sing and Taconic prisons in NY.
Upon retirement, he wintered in LaFayette, Louisiana where he was a joyful participant in all things connected to Zydeco dancing and singing in the choir at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in LaFayette.
Jack was a member and lector at Holy Name Church in Croton-On-Hudson, and a member of Croton Community Coalition (drug abuse organization.) He was an AYSO soccer coach in Croton. As in Lafayette, Jack enjoyed and was an active participant in Zydeco dancing events in the NY area.
Jack was a lifelong, loud and proud, long-suffering, fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was also a follower and fan of the New England Patriots.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Paulist Center, 5 Park Street, Boston, MA on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 2:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jack's memory to Our Lady of Peace Church, 145 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, LaFayette, Louisiana 70501 or to a charity of one's choice.
