Mr. John Peter Donovan, of Tewksbury and formerly of Somerville, passed away at home surrounded by the love and care of his family on June 18, 2024, he was 84. Born and raised in Somerville, John was the son of the late William F. Donovan and Margaret J. (Kelly) Donovan. He was a proud Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era and went on to serve on the Somerville Fire Department. First assigned to Engine 4, he transferred to Engine 3 in Union Square, close to home, he could often walk to work at the station.

Beloved husband of the late Catherine M. (Donnellan) Donovan. Devoted father of William O' Connell and his wife Ann of FL. Edward O'Connell and his wife Cindy of Tewksbury, John Donovan and his wife Cindy of Billerica, Mary Beth Donovan and Colleen Donovan both of Tewksbury, Patrick Donovan and his wife Beth of Saugus Grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Dear brother of Michael Donovan of Billerica, James Donovan and his wife Patricia of Saugus, William Donovan and his wife Eleanor of Fl.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Monday, June 24th from 4pm to 7pm. Relatives and friends invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 262 Washington St, Union Sq., Somerville on Tuesday morning at 11am. Please meet at church.

Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
