John S. Beattie passed away suddenly at his Somerville home on June 6, 2023, he was 64. Born and raised in Somerville John was a life long resident. Cherished son of Agnes (McLeod) Beattie of Florida and the late Robert Beattie. A graduate of the Somerville Trade School, John was a maintenance supervisor with the Faros Properties Company. Known by many as the "Hawk Man of Beacon Hill", John enjoyed bird watching in the city, especially the hawks and raptors that took up residences in the various properties he oversaw. He amassed a vast collection of photos he took of them over the years.

The beloved husband of 44 years to Joanna (Forgione) Beattie. He was the devoted father of John S. Beattie, Jr. and the loving grandfather of Hannah Beattie. Dear brother of Laura Horgan of Florida, Douglas Beattie of Texas and the late Robert Beattie.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Saturday afternoon, June 10th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment will be private.
