Obituary

Joan Denise (White) Dwyer, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, after a long illness. She was 89.

Raised in Somervile, Joan is the daughter of the late John and Christina (Cahill) White. Dear sister to Paul White of Saugus.  Predeceased by her late husbands Edward Dwyer, who died in 2010 and Herbert Voye, who died in 1986. Devoted and loving mother to Thomas Voye and his partner Julie Bettencourt of Lakeville, Brenda Reardon and her partner Bill Swanton of Medford, and Maura Gaffey and her husband James of Billerica. Proud and loving "Grammie" to Patrick, Brendan, Stephanie, the late John ("Jay") and great grandmother to Elaine Joan.

Joan was a graduate of Matignon High School; and raised her family in Medford where she resided for 50 years.  Joan worked at Wausau Insurance for many years. After retiring, Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren, having dinner with her friends, working in her garden and spending time with her beloved dog Blarney.

Joan was a devout Catholic.  Her religious beliefs brought her joy and strength.  She was involved in the St. Raphael parish and the St. Joseph parish.

Visitation hours will be held at George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Somerville on Tuesday, February 3 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM followed by her funeral Mass at St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford at 11 AM. Services will conclude with her burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
