Jean M. (Scales) Bando, a cherished resident of Medford for many years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Tewksbury, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leo and Catherine (Riley) Scales.
Jean dedicated many years of her professional life as a clerk for the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Boston, where she was known for her kindness and efficiency. She retired in 2000, after which she embraced her role as a devoted noni with immense joy and dedication. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was through special gifts or simply spending quality time, Jean had a remarkable ability to make each grandchild feel uniquely special.
In her retirement, Jean found great happiness in traveling with her beloved husband, particularly to York Beach, Maine, where they found peace and joy. Her love for travel and exploration was matched only by her vibrant social spirit; Jean had an incredible gift for making friends wherever she went and touched many lives with her warmth and genuine affection.
Jean's family and friends will remember her as a loving, spirited, and engaging individual who could light up a room with her presence. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joyful companionship will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
