Irene Marie (Caruso) Batastini, also known as "NANA", 87, peacefully passed on March 3,
2022 in Boston.
Born in Boston on November 7, 1934, Irene resided in Somerville, Ma.
She joins her mother, Maria Grace (LaRiccia) Caruso, father, Nicola Caruso and brother,
Louis Caruso in eternal life.
Survived by son, Kenneth Batastini of Lakeland, FL and daughter Cheryl Pino of Somerville,
MA, her loving grandchildren Amie (Jim) Hollborn, Alyssa Batastini, and Amanda (Joshua)
Fishbein, their mother Jane Batastini, and great granddaughter, Zoe Grace Hollborn.
Her longtime companion and partner, John Carrega, will miss her immensely.
She is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews and a multitude of
cousins and friends, especially her long time friends, Susan Lanigan, Claire Joyce and
Bobby Mathews.
A longtime employee of Delta Airlines, Irene will be remembered for her love of travel and
sharing her joy and pride of her grandchildren, as she would constantly show off photos and
share stories of their accomplishments.
"NANA" lived life to the fullest and even in the ebb of her life, found great pleasure in
watching her Zoe Grace grow and dance her way to being the young lady that filled her
heart with joy!
