Howard E. "Howie" Winter--62, A lifelong resident of Somerville passed away at Cambridge Hospital on February 10, 2012 after a sudden illness. Howie was the beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Burns) and the loving father of H. Thomas and Sean F. Winter both of Somerville. Howie was also the dear son of Howard T. Winter of Millbury and the late Rosemarie (O'Brien). He was the brother of Karen L. Ciampa and her husband Vincent of Saugus, Kathleen R. Winter of Stoneham, Karolyn M. Spinney and her husband Scott of Melrose and the late Gary J. Winter and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, one grand nephew, his in-laws John and Valia Burns of Somerville and several other loving relatives and friends. The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church (Union Sq.) in Somerville at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 14, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Winchester. Howie was an active volunteer in Somerville youth sports, late member of American Legion Post 19, and was a retired employee of Carpenter's Union Local 33 after a 25-year career.
