Frank
Buttaro
Oct 1, 1932 — Dec 2, 2023
Frank Buttaro, of Somerville and Wareham, passed away on December 2, 2023, he was 91. Born and raised in Gaeta, Italy, he was one of six children of the late Annunziata (Brongo) and Cosmo Buttaro. As a young man, Frank immigrated from Italy, first arriving in Canada to live with family and then to the U.S. after meeting the love of his life, Anna Traniello. They were married at St. Anthony Church in Somerville and soon started their family. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before Anna's passing in September of 2021.
In addition to his beloved wife, Anna (Traniello) Buttaro, Frank was predeceased by his dear sister, Francesca Ferro, brothers Vincenzo, Antonio and Damiano Buttaro and his nephew, Cosmo Buttaro. He is survived by his loving children, Nancy Driscoll and her husband Steven of Braintree and Vincent Buttaro and his wife Christine of Tewksbury; his cherished grandchildren Amber Buttaro and Brendan Driscoll; his dear brother Pasquale Buttaro of Arlington and his sister-in-law, Assunta Buttaro, also of Arlington. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Frank worked as a welder for many years and was a member of the AFL CIO Union #257. He was an avid gardener and was awarded by the City of Somerville for his vegetable gardens. He enjoyed making his own wine and canning his home-grown tomatoes to share with family and friends, but it was his time spent with family and friends that meant the most to him. Above all, he will always be remembered by many for his love and devotion to family.
Frank's family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff and fellow residents at RegalCare at Quincy (formerly John Adams Healthcare Center) for the love and care shown to Frank during his stay there.
