Mrs. Eva R. (Morandi) Spitzer, passed away on March 8, 2025, she was 99. Born and raised in Somerville, she was a lifelong resident. Cherished daughter of the late Sarah (Nazarro) and Joseph Morandi. A talented singer, she worked for the Boston Music Company assisting in their receiving department. Eva sang at weddings, funerals and other church services and even went on to sing in the United Service Organizations; or USO. It was there at the young age of 16 she would meet her future husband, Marvin H. Spitzer while he was serving in the US Coast Guard. They were later married and settled in Somerville to raise their family. Together they enjoyed local travel and visiting thrift shops. A devoted and faithful woman, Eva prayed daily. She enjoyed cooking Italian food and sharing her delicious meals with family and friends.
The beloved wife of the late Marvin H. Spitzer, together they were married 76 years before his passing in 2022. Eva was the devoted mother of Edward Spitzer and his companion Barbara of North Reading and Patricia Durgin and her late husband Albert of Somerville. Loving grandmother of Danielle Prigmore, Jodi Vachon and her husband Jeffrey and the late Brian Spitzer. Great-grandmother of Liam Prigmore.
Relatives and friends invited to attend visiting hours in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, on Friday, March 14th from 9:30AM – 10:30AM Followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Benedict Church at 11AM.
Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eva's memory to the MSPCA at www.mspca.org in honor of her love for animals.
