Emmanuel Destin of Cambridge, Massachusetts, beloved son of Etienne Oscar and Aline Destin passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.
Born and raised in Haiti, Emmanuel spent many years there working as a train engineer before moving to the United States. After settling in Massachusetts, he continued his professional journey in facilities and property services, dedicating several years to Boston Properties and Harvard University. Throughout his career, Emmanuel built lasting relationships with colleagues who admired his reliability, strong work ethic, and positive spirit.
Emmanuel was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was deeply admired for his kindness, generosity, and warm heart. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and cared for, often offering support, laughter, and wisdom to those around him.
He had a deep passion for music and especially enjoyed listening to songs that reminded him of home and celebration.
Emmanuel was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Armand Destin. He is survived by his second wife, Joean Destin. His 9 siblings, Aloude Augustin, Antonio Destin, Rene Destin, Leonce Destin, Marie Yolene Destin, Predeceased: Wesner Augustin, Alexandrine Destin, Germaine Destin, Marie Carmelle Destin, Wesner Oscar, and Erstz Oscar.
Beloved by nephews and nieces. his loving children, Romania Pierre, and her husband Alix Pierre. Gabrielle St Pierre, and her husband Jonas St Pierre. Jean Vales Destin, and his wife Eva Destin. Emerson Destin, Ernise Destin, and late husband Roland W Carty. Michaelle Destin.
As well as his seventeen grandchildren, France Destin and ms. Kristen Tulloch, Alexandra Pierre, Emmanuel Destin, Alexandra Jules and her Husband Duward Johnson Saygbe III, Marthe-Andre Saint Pierre, Briana Saint Pierre, Kiara Osiris, Effrayil Pierre, Armand Mae Destin, Marckenzy Destin, Adia Valcine Destin, Seira Carty, Oliver Destin, Mathias Destin, Catherine Carty, and Talik Brunoleo Destin; and his four treasured great-grandchildren, Joshua Destin, Noah Destin, Laylani Pierre, and Joreaux M Saint Pierre.
Emmanuel's legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning, March 7, 2026, at St. John Church, located at 2254 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140, from 9:00 to 10:00 am, followed by his funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Interment will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
