Ellen Morel (nee Donnelly) passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 14, 1933, to Daniel and Ann Donnelly. Ellen was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Morel, and for 55 years, they shared a life of love and companionship.

Ellen Morel is survived by her children, Maureen McCabe, Jeanne Crabtree, Nancy Leach, Susan Lohnes and her husband Bobby, and Thomas and his wife Andrea. She is also survived by her brother Richard Donnelly and her sisters-in-law Camille Donnelly and Kathleen Cuichta and her husband Walter.  She was also a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Ellen's family meant the world to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene and her children Kathleen and James (Jamie) Morel. She will be deeply missed by her entire family, extended family, and friends.

Throughout her life, Ellen found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a special fondness for the holiday season, especially Christmas and all the decorations that went with it. She also had a passion for playing cards. Whether it was a lively game of Phase 10 or cribbage, she loved the family time and friendly competition that came with the game. Many treasured memories were made around the Florida room card table.

Ellen will be remembered for her warm heart, her kindness, and her unwavering love for her family. Her nurturing nature and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience that is everlasting. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of her dear departed husband, daughter, son, and family members.

Visitation service for Ellen will be held at Doherty Funeral Service, Somerville, MA, the evening of Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm.

A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Friday, July 14th at 11:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass to celebrate Ellen's life in St. Clement Church 64 Warner St. Medford at 12:00PM.  Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
