Smith, Edward W. of North Reading formerly of Cambridge, passed away on November 18, 2022 at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. He was 76.

Born and raised in Cambridge to the late John E. Smith and Margaret (McCusker) Hughes and her husband John.

He was the beloved husband of the late Civita (Spinetti) Smith. The former husband of Joanne (Vargas) Smith. The devoted father of Michele M. Gantz and her late husband Rodrick of Woburn, Courtney M. Smith and Brian Smith both of Pulaski, NY. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Timothy and his husband Sean, Brady, Isabella, Kayleigh, Colby, Tayla, and Logan. He was the dear brother of the late Leo R. Smith and his surviving wife Margaret of Wilmington and Carole Green and her husband Gary of Osterville.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral procession will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, at 9:00AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10:00AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, November 29th from 3:00PM to 7:00PM.

Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Edward loved his family and cherished spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was a coach of Billerica Little League, pop warner and Northeast Baseball. Late Member of the American Legion.
