Cook, Dorothea L. (Gerbrands)-- Of Somerville, passed away on Wednesday October 12th at the Winchester Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 96.

Born and raised in Somerville to the late Richard A. and Louise (Potts) Gerbrands. Dorothea had a successful 25-year career as bookkeeper at Stop and Shop till her retirement in the early 1970's. After retiring she enjoyed painting scenic landscapes of gardens and ocean views. When she wasn't painting, she would be tending to her garden at home.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert N. Cook. She the loving mother Dena Mullen and her husband Frank of Olney, MD. The cherished grandmother of Jessica and John. She was the dear sister of the late Richard A. Gerbands and Helen V. Colgate. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Dorothea services were held privately at Woodlawn Cemetery, where she is laid to rest with her beloved husband.
