Obituary

Desrochers, Donald L. Sr.-- Of Malden, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a brief but fierce battle with cancer on April 4, 2023. He was 54 years young.
Born and raised in Somerville. He was the son of the late Roger and Wilma (Davies) Desrochers. Donald was a family man who loved making memories with his family, he cherished every moment with his grandchildren.  Whenever he was with family, he felt the joy. Donald was known as a jokester, he loved to make a friendly joke with anyone he would come in contact with. He knew almost everyone from being so friendly. He was a kind, strong and most of all a gentle giant. The world was a brighter place with Donald in it and he will be missed by all.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (MacNeil) Desrochers. The devoted father of Donald Desrochers Jr. and his wife Kaitlyn of Griswold, CT, Bridget Hanson and her husband Derek of Malden, Cruz Desrochers and his fiancé Layne Koeppel of Southbridge, and Owen Desrochers and his wife Jisel of Everett. He was the loving Pepere of Donald III, Dakota, Derek Jr., Gordon, and Elle. The cherished brother of Roger Desrochers Jr. and his wife Denice, Roy Desrochers and his wife Elaine, William "Billy" Desrochers and his wife Janice, and Thomas Desrochers (Gail Bramante), Sean Desrochers and his wife Elizabeth "Beth". Outstanding son-in-law to Thomas MacNeil and the late Elizabeth MacNeil.  Dear brother in-law of Timothy "Timmy" MacNeil and his wife Lisa, Jackie MacNeil and his wife Claudia, Inez Fabiano and her late husband John and the late Thomas "Tommy" MacNeil. He is also survived by many loving, nieces, nephews, and close family and friends along with his crazy puppy Daisy girl.
A Funeral Procession will be from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Friday, April 7th at 9:00AM. Please remain in your vehicles. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett at 10:00AM.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, April 6th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.
Services will conclude with Donald being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in Donald's name to a Buddy Bench. Donation can be given directly to his wife Betty.
