Obituary

Brian J. Brady, a beloved resident of Arlington and formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Edward P. and Vivian (Vizard) Brady. Brian was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War, a source of great pride throughout his life.

Brian was a devoted family man, considering all of his nieces and nephews as his own children. He cherished every moment spent with them, taking great joy in their accomplishments and milestones. An avid sports fan, Brian was passionate about all Boston teams, with a particular love for baseball and the Boston Red Sox. His enthusiasm for the sport led him to travel across the country to visit every Major League Baseball stadium, creating lasting memories along the way.

In addition to his love for sports, Brian was an avid walker, often seen walking around Somerville and neighboring towns. He was also very active in Somerville politics, working quietly in the background to help improve the community he loved.

Brian is survived by his beloved sister, Carol Granato of CT, and was a devoted uncle to Christopher Granato and his wife Kim of MA, Greg Granato and his wife Susan of Washington D.C, Jeff Granato and his wife Lori of PA, Pam Norman of Washington D.C, Joy Brady of OH, and Kent Brady and his wife Julie of Ohio. He was a cherished great-uncle to 17 nieces and nephews and is also lovingly survived by many great-great nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother Mark Brady and his late wife Ann, and his nephew Sean Brady of Ohio.
