Beverly Ann
D'Ortona
Dec 2, 1941 — Apr 24, 2026
Beverly Ann (Powers) D'Ortona – Of Medford, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was 84 years old.
Born in East Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Cecil and Lillian E. (McMahon) Powers.
Beverly worked for many years in business administration, but the role she was most proud of was being a mother to her eight children. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her husband, Bob, and children, especially during their adventurous family vacations all packed into their paneled station wagon. To be more involved in her children's lives, Beverly worked for many years as a lunch mother at the Osgood School. She especially loved the holidays, when her entire family would gather together to laugh, talk, and share meals.
As the years went on, she became the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren were the light of her life. As an only child, Beverly had always dreamed of having a large family and she certainly got her wish. She truly loved and cherished each and every member of her family.
A woman of deep faith, Beverly was a longtime member of St. Raphael Parish in West Medford. Her faith was a guiding presence throughout her life. Beverly prayed daily, asking Jesus to watch over everyone she loved family and friends alike and continually prayed for peace within her family and throughout the world.
In her quieter moments, Beverly enjoyed reading the newspaper to stay connected to the world around her until the internet came along and she happily discovered the iPhone. She loved getting her hair done and catching up on the latest gossip at the hair salon, and she especially enjoyed going out with her family to enjoy fried clams while reminiscing and catching up on family events. Beverly loved traveling with her family and cherished trips to Old Orchard Beach, Lake George, and Nova Scotia, places that held many happy memories.
Beverly was a devoted fan of Boston sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Boston Bruins. She especially enjoyed watching games with her grandchildren, cheering alongside them and sharing in the excitement together.
An avid animal lover, Beverly cherished her pets as well as her "grand-pets," whom she considered beloved members of her family.
She was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Robert J. D'Ortona. Devoted mother of Carol Roche and her husband Frederick of Medford, Robert D'Ortona Jr. and his wife Kelly of Nashua, NH, Sandra Bates and her husband Robert of Medford, Michelle D'Ortona of Scituate, James "Jimmy" D'Ortona and his wife Pamela of Plymouth, Shannon Ciarlone and her husband Anthony of Medford, Shaun D'Ortona and his partner Joel Long of Buzzards Bay, and the late William D'Ortona.
She was the cherished grandmother of Kevin and Sean Roche, the late Colleen D'Ortona, Daniel D'Ortona and his wife Tiffany, Jon D'Ortona and his wife Sydney, Peter, Matthew and Stephen D'Ortona, Lillian Bates, Tiffany D'Ortona, Samantha Ibrahim and her husband Charlie, Andrew Geddes, Nicholas D'Ortona, and Brendan, Ryan, and Evan Ciarlone.
She was the loving great-grandmother of Charlotte Ibrahim and Myra D'Ortona, and the devoted pet mother of her beloved cat, Tiggy.
