Obituary

Mrs. Beatrice Shannon, of Malden, passed away on November 4, 2022.

Bea was raised on Mt. Pleasant Street in Somerville. She lived at 10 Brook Street with her parents, husband Jimmy and 3 children Donna, Jimmy and Kerri for 34 years. The years on Brook Street were filled with good neighbors/friends, good times and many backyard card games.

Bea and Jimmy later moved to Malden for the next chapter of their life. She loved to entertain. Family and friends were welcomed to many pool parties and summer barbecues at Pamela Circle.
Watching the Red Sox games was also a favorite past time.
She as an avid card player. She played in Texas Hold'em tournaments whenever the opportunity presented. Bea and Jimmy took pleasure in weekly whist games at the Somerville City Club.
She was president of the Thursday Night Ball Square Bowling league for many years.
Over the years she enjoyed vacations with family and friends at Hampton Beach, Catskill Mountains, Ireland, Aruba, Vegas and Bermuda Cruises. Trips to Foxwood and Mohegan Sun Casinos were always a highlight for her.
She was a member of the Irish American Women's Auxiliary. Weekends were often spent going to Irish dances and enjoying the company of lifelong friends.
She was employed as a lunch aid in the Somerville Public Schools for over 45 years.

The beloved wife of the late James K. Shannon, who passed away last year, together they were married over 62 years. She was the devoted mother of Donna Shannon and her husband Paul Souza of Everett, James K. Shannon, Jr. of Malden and Kerri Shannon Schaefer and her husband James of Saugus. Cherished Nana of Patrick, Mariah, Eric, Bria, Ryan, Shaun and Tyler. Bea is further survived by her daughter in law, Tara (Killeen) Shannon of Somerville, a brother in law, Gerald Shannon, sister in law Teresa Culligan, both of Ireland.

Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Monday morning, November 14th at 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, Malden at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Calling Hours Sunday afternoon from 1:00PM - 5:00PM.

Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

In lieu of flowers donations in Bea's memoray can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
