Austin J. "Sonny" White, of Medford, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2026, at the age of 83.

Known to family and friends as "Sonny," he was born in Boston, the son of the late Anna (Ryan) White and Austin P. White.

Sonny and Monica (Staskunas) White were married for 59 years and built their life together in Medford, where they raised their two sons. He was Dad to Joe and his wife AnnLouise, and Kevin, and Grandpa to Erica, Austin, and Chelsey. He was also the brother of Patricia Getrost, Karen White, and the late Robert and Joan White.

Sonny proudly served in the United States Army and, after returning home, spent most of his life working as a truck driver as a member of Teamsters Local 25. Truck driving was more than a job to Sonny, it was part of who he was, and something he remained proud of throughout his life. He remained close with many of the friends he made over the years through Local 25, the American Legion, and the Arlington Lodge of Elks.

While he worked hard throughout his life, what mattered most to him was spending time with family and friends. Some of our favorite memories are of gathering around the table with Sonny, enjoying one of Monica's home-cooked meals, sharing stories, and laughing together. He loved holidays, cookouts, family gatherings, and any excuse to get together with the people he loved.

Sonny also loved bowling and golf and treasured the many friendships that came with both.  He was happiest when surrounded by people and made friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed.
