Antoine O. Memeus, 89, of Chantal, Haiti, passed away on September 21, 2023, in Cambridge, MA.

Antoine O. Memeus was a jack of all trades, a creative and innovative man. He was known for doing things like using discarded car batteries to generate electricity, making the family home the only dwelling on the countryside to access "la voix de l'amérique" on the radio. He was a tailor by profession, he enjoyed designing suits, dresses, and uniforms. If you were getting married, he was the tailor of preference.  He was a farmer, planting and harvesting various foods such as bananas, coconuts, yams, rice, beans, watercress, and breadfruit to feed his family.  He was a carpenter, a veterinarian, and a caregiver to the unwell in our neighborhood. He was known to all as the man who did all to create a better life for his family and community.

He was married to his beloved wife, Antoinette Memeus and was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne Vanita Vilpigue. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted friend to all.

He leaves behind 10 siblings, 11 children, 32 grand-children, and 1 great-granddaughter.

His surviving children are, Jeanne Alberonyse Memeus, Jean Zaguy Memeus, Marthe Meneus Loreus, Anne Josette Memeus, Jean Menes Memeus, Rose Jaqueline Memeus, Pierre Jonathan Memeus, Rose Anate Memeus, Jean Philippe Memeus, Rose Guerline Memeus, and Diacson Memeus. Antoine will be remembered by his loved ones as a cherished individual. May he rest in peace.

A Funeral service will be held in The Holy Bible Baptist Church, 64 College Ave. Somerville on Saturday October 7th at 9:30AM. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at 9:00AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 6th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

Services will conclude with interment at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge.
